(Writer / Performer)
East London West Sydney is a cross-border and multi-lingual mash-up of spoken word, drama, music and movement that premiered at Sydney Festival 2011 in partnership with British Council/ICE.
Leading spoken word performer Jonzi D directs artists including BrothaBlack, Sarah Sayeed, MC Trey and Maxwell Golden as they use the tools of the urban poet to ride the parallels and divergences between two cities.
It brings together a crew of dexterous hip-hop artists from London and Sydney to exchange ideas and smash inner city stereotypes.
“Great showmanship, I’ve never seen Hip Hop portrayed in a dramatic way with the telling of many stories of struggle. I really enjoyed it” (audience feedback)
Presented by Information and Cultural Exchange (ICE) and The British Council in association with Sydney Festival and CarriageWorks
