Southbank Centre’s Emerging Artists in Residence created a huge collaborative show ‘Takeover’ at Royal Festival Hall – directed by Maxwell Golden and Jason Yarde.
The show featured Riz Ahmed, Ayanna Witter-Johnson, Nathan ‘Flutebox’ Lee, Aruba Red, Iron Braydz, Camilo Tirado, Yemisi Blake, Maxwell Golden and many more of the UK’s next generation of forward-thinking artists alongside an orchestra.
EAR was a pioneering residency programme that evolved from ‘Aftershock’ project hand-picked by Nitin Sawhney.

As Emerging Artist in Residence at the Southbank Centre, Maxwell Golden helped to bring new audiences into the Southbank Centre, leading workshops, creating and curating new work, including a one-man show “The Sun & The Moon”. Maxwell worked on both the London Literature Festival and International Poetry Festival and also shared Artistic direction with Jason Yarde, and was responsible for youth engagement on “Takeover”, which sold over 2,700 tickets and involved 170 performers.
